D’Angelo’s Second Coming

Fans only had a handful of chances to see on stage this year, including Australia’s SoulFest and an appearance with Christian McBride. But come February, you better prepare for his “Second Coming.” The tour, that is.

An announcement from the R&B/neo-soul singer’s camp says the excursion is “sure to introduce audiences to a new side of D’Angelo.”

The artist will be joined by his band The Vanguard, featuring bassist Pino Palladino, guitarists Jesse Johnson and Isaiah Sharkey, keyboardist Cleo “Pookie” Sample and drummer John Blackwell. As your bandleader for the evening, D’Angelo will handle vocals. The artist will also show off his skills on guitar and keyboard.

The setlist will range from popular hits to new songs and fresh interpretations of covers. And don’t expect to hear any sequencers, auto-tune or backing tracks because D’Angelo and The Vanguard will deliver every note live.
