Wale’s ‘Simply Nothing’ Tour

Wale’s new excursion is being called the “Simply Nothing” Tour, but the rapper has a whole lot of something going on. The 32-date outing will offer fans a preview of his upcoming album, The Album About Nothing, which features none other than Jerry Seinfeld.

This week Complex magazine delighted the internet with its December 2014/January 2015 cover feature – a conversation in a diner between Wale and Jerry. Complex also put out a video that explains it was really Jerry who convinced Wale to make that infamous phone call threatening the magazine over the rapper’s exclusion on its “50 Best Albums of 2013” list.

Wale paid tribute to his love of the show about nothing – aka “Seinfeld” – with his fourth mixtape, 2008’s The Mixtape About Nothing, which included samples from the series and an appearance from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays the character Elaine Benes. And then on Wale’s 2013 LP, The Gifted, Jerry made a guest apperance on the “Outro About Nothing.”

Complex writes, “This year, Seinfeld truly goes from being Wale’s inspiration to his collaborator. The comedian is all over Wale’s forthcoming The Album About Nothing, serving as a sort of narrator and muse, contributing spoken-word segments that form the basis for many of the songs.”

In a trailer for the album released in September, Wale promises TAAN is “coming soon.”
