Grammy Foundation Announces ‘Legacy’ Lineup

Aloe Blacc, Melissa Etheridge, Cyndi Lauper, Willie Nelson and Robin Thicke will appear at the 17th annual happening in Los Angeles in February.

“Lean On Me: A Celebration Of Music and Philanthropy” is set for Feb. 5 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre.  Songwriter/producer Darrell Brown will serve as the evening’s music director.

Open to the public, the evening gives music fans the opportunity to rub shoulders (or at least be in the same room) with the music industry’s movers and shakers, such as Recording Academy/Grammy Foundation president/CEO Neil Portnow.  This year’s theme centers on music’s ever-growing role in advancing philanthropic causes and the people working behind the scenes to make that happen.

“The Grammy Foundation Legacy Concert honors significant influences in music history and highlights our year-round activities in support of our mission to protect our cultural legacy,” Portnow said.  “This event was created to underscore the value of preserving our rich musical heritage so that future generations can continue to benefit from a deep appreciation of this history.  The evening’s live performances by some of music’s most celebrated artists combined with seminal interviews and footage highlighting historical musical milestones clearly bring our message home to all fortunate enough to participate.”
