Jayhawks On The West Coast

Minnesota’s premiere alt-country rock outfit, The Jayhawks, has lined up early 2015 gigs from Seattle to Southern California, with stops including Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Granted, there’s been more than a few musicians in the Jayhawks since the band’s mid-1980s beginning.  The upcoming tour will feature the 1997 lineup of Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Tim O’Reagan, Karen Grotbert and Kraig Johnson.

Lately, the Jayhawks have been promoting the deluxe version of three of the band’s classic albums – 1997’s Sound Of Lies, 2000’s Smile and Rainy Day Music, released in 2003. In addition to expanded CD versions of each album released in July, the band released high-quality LP sets in September.  Re-pressed versions of 1995’s Tomorrow The Green Grass and 2011’s Mockingbird Time have also been released.

“The Jayhawks have been having a blast touring the eastern half of the U.S. playing songs from Sound Of Lies, Smile and Rainy Day Music for fans who haven’t heard performed live for a decade and a half,” Perlman said.  “We’re thrilled to be able to do the same for our fans on the West Coast this coming January.”

The Jayhawks’ West Coast run leads up to the band participation in the “Todos Santos Music Festival” in Mexico January 15-17.  Here’s the schedule:

Jan. 6 – Seattle, Wash., The Neptune
Jan. 7 – Portland, Ore., Aladdin Theater
Jan. 8 – San Francisco, Calif., The Fillmore
Jan. 10 – Los Angeles, Calif., The Fonda
