Cordish Scores Philly Casino License
The property, which will be built in the city’s stadium district, will be owned and operated by Cordish Cos. and Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment. The casino is expected to house 200,000 square feet of gaming space and an adjacent hotel with 240 rooms and 2,500 parking spaces.
In an analysis released following the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s vote, members wrote they appreciated the synergy offered between the casino and sports and music enthusiasts, and said the project could help market the complex as a year-round attraction. If the license decision is not challenged in court, ground could be broken on the property within eight months and the casino could open in as early as 18 months after that, officials said.
