Stapp Asking For Album Funding?

Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp, who has claimed he is homeless and penniless, has apparently put together a crowd-funding campaign to launch a solo album and fiction novel but there is a possibility that Stapp is not involved with the campaign and is the target of an online prank.

Stapp has said that his wealth, which at one point reached $30 million, has been reduced to zero because the IRS has allegedly frozen his bank account.

Meanwhile, an audit apparently uncovered discrepencies that showed money has been quietly siphoned from his personal accounts. Now there is a Fundly campaign for Stapp to launch a new album, along with a book.

“Raising funds 4solo album #3. Using same team, Howard Bensen (Producer) & Chris Lord-Alge (Mix). At the same time, my first book in the fiction category. Need 2fund both projects,” the Fundly campaign says.

The goal is $480,000 but, as of Dec. 1, the campaign has garnered about $700.

However, although Stapp is apparently living at a Holiday Inn in Los Angeles, a Fundly user said he has traced the account to an IP address with a UK owner, according to Hollywood Take.

Stapp first drew attention to himself with a 15-minute video posted to his Facebook page. In it, he claimed he didn’t have enough money for gas or food but was “as sober as can be.”

His estranged wife, Jaclyn, has disagreed with the statement and so has his 16-year-old son, Jagger. Jaclyn said Stapp is blowing his fortune on drugs and has refused help. Jagger has tweeted that his father “once again chose drugs over his family.”
