WME Cuts 100 IMG Staffers

Just more than six months after officially closing the acquisition of IMG Worldwide to create the planet’s biggest agency, William Morris Endeavor is reportedly doing the expected downsizing and eliminating about 100 IMG jobs.

Those jobs are coming out of IMG’s global staff, according to a Dec. 1 memo from co-CEOs Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell. The combined company is “incredibly well-positioned for the future” but changes are in the offing, it adds.

“As a first step in this process, we will be downsizing three percent of our workforce across IMG in the coming weeks,” the memo to staff said. “These changes will allow us to more effectively invest in our future through acquisition; to re-allocate our resources to high-growth businesses; and ensure we realize our full potential across WME IMG.”

The cuts follow the departure of former IMG Sports and Entertainment President George Pyne land the hiring of ex-CNN and Turner exec Greg D’Alba as president of global sales and marketing and former Dick Clark Productions CEO Mark Shapiro was tapped as IMG’s COO, according to Deadline Hollywood.
