Moz Storms Out

Morrissey caused something of an uproar by storming offstage after only 30 minutes of his Warsaw concert Nov. 19.

There have been varying reports of why Moz walked off during his sold-out show at the Polish capital’s 1,500-capacity . Local paper Gazeta Wyborcza said he “did not feel safe” and that he had “been insulted,” while the UK’s Daily Express reckoned it was because “a member of the crowd made a tasteless joke about cancer.”

The clip that showed up on YouTube revealed what sounded like an English voice yelling that the former Smiths frontman should return home to Manchester.

It also sounded like there may have been a couple of expletives included in this instruction.

Concertgoers were quick to vent their anger on the venue’s Facebook page. “He’s been performing on stage all these years and he still hasn’t grasped that amongst several hundred people there’s always one arse?” one fan wrote. “This is basic lack of professionalism and diva behavior.”

Show promoter Live Nation Poland offered fans the opportunity to have free entrance to Mozza’s other Polish show, which was at another 1,500-capacity venue in Krakow.

Although Warsaw to Krakow is a five-hour drive, apparently 168 fans made the trip. However, other fans at the Warsaw show demanded their money back. At press time it wasn’t clear if LN will take any legal action against Morrissey.
