The fate of future Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circuses in Oakland, Calif., was unclear at press time following a recent vote.

Committee officials passed an ordinance to ban the use of bullhooks on elephants Dec. 3.
The full city council is scheduled to vote on the matter next week and representatives for Feld Entertainment say the circus still vigorously disputes the need for the ordinance.
