Stromae Headlines MSG & More

Earlier this year NPR ran a feature on Stromae and called the Belgian singer/songwriter a “global star in the making.” Well, it looks like his star power is certainly on the rise. After playing his first-ever North American tour this fall, he’s planned his next batch of dates, including a show at Madison Square Garden.

Stromae’s debut North American tour was filled with sold-out shows, including two nights at New York City’s Terminal 5. When he returns to the Big Apple next October, he’ll take the stage in front of a much bigger audience. Terminal 5 has a capacity of 3,000, whereas MSG can fit up to 19,420 fans for a concert.

As Stromae’s press reps say, his “American takeover just began in 2014. 2015 will be his year.”

The musician is continuing to support his second studio album, 2013’s Racine Carrée, which includes breakout single “Papaoutai.” The song broke the 210-million mark on YouTube/Vevo and reached No. 1 on iTunes in 16 countries.

His new single, “Meltdown,” can be heard on the soundtrack to “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1.” In addition to curating the soundtrack, Lorde is featured on the tune, along with Pusha T, Q-Tip and HAIM.

With more dates to come, here are the initial North American concerts booked for 2015:

April 5 – Vancouver, British Columbia, Orpheum
April 6 – Seattle, Wash., Showbox SoDo
