Turin Orchestra Performs At NYC Food Emporium
A world-class Italian orchestra served up the sounds of the season – amid the pizza, pasta and pepperoni of a Manhattan food emporium.
The orchestra and chorus of the Teatro Regio from Turin played Sunday night at Eataly. That’s the 50,000-square-foot New York outpost of the global food market chain.
Eataly locked its doors for a food and music feast benefiting the Geneva-based Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Guests paid $85 each for the spectacle.
Earlier Sunday, the Italian ensemble with vocal soloists performed at Carnegie Hall under music director Gianandrea Noseda. Their North American tour also took them to Chicago and Toronto.
