Grateful Dead Manager Rock Scully Dies
Rock Scully, the legendary manager of the Grateful Dead from 1965 to 1985, has died after a battle with lung cancer, according to the Monterey County Weekly.

He signed on with the band, then still known as The Warlocks, after seeing them perform at Ken Kesey’s Acid Tests . He began booking the band at San Francisco venues including The Fillmore, and bringing the band to such singular events as Woodstock and the 1967 Monterey Pop festival, and remained with the band until Jerry Garcia’s death.
He is a co-author of “Living with the Dead: Twenty years on the Bus with Garcia and the Grateful Dead.”
