Garth Brooks Has Friends In High Places

Garth Brooks and Justin Timberlake are becoming quite the buddies. Earlier this month Timberlake was spotted in the audience at one of the country star’s shows and on Friday Brooks returned the favor by surprising Timberlake’s fans in Nashville.

In the middle of Friday’s show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Timberlake had performed a few minutes of a cover of Brooks’ hit “Friends in Low Places,” and even gotten the crowd to sing along, when he stopped and told the audience, “Hold on, hold on, something don’t feel right.” That’s when Brooks walked on stage and the singers turned the song into a duet.

Check out the video of the performance below, which was recorded by an audience member (via Rolling Stone).

After Friday’s show Brooks Instagrammed a clip of the duet and wrote, “I saw an ENTERTAINER tonight #Justinrcredible”

Rolling Stone points out that Timberlake covered the tune a few weeks ago in Oklahoma City.

Timberlake had previously doled out compliments to Brooks on social media after attending his Dec. 4 show at St. Louis’ Scottrade Center. He instagrammed a photo of the two artists (as seen above) with the following caption: “One of my IDOLS. Garth… You are a MASTER of your craft. I am in awe of you, still.”

In other Garth news, he recently added four additional gigs at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena. Along with the two previously announced shows on Feb. 27-28, Brooks is now playing Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. On Feb. 28 he’ll take the stage twice – 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are available now.
