Apparently Cocker’s agent, Barrie Marshall, confirmed that the singer “died of an undisclosed illness.”
Marshall described Cocker as “simply unique” and said, “It will be impossible to fill the space he leaves in our hearts.”
Cocker rose to fame when he recorded The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends” and the record hit the top of the charts. His duet with Jennifer Warnes on “Up Where We Belong” from the film “An Officer And A Gentleman” also hit No. 1 and resulted in a Grammy and an Academy Award.
