SF Legislation To Protect Live Music
A San Francisco supervisor wants to make sure new housing developments in the city don’t push out live music venues.
Supervisor London Breed unveiled legislation on Tuesday that would require that potential residents are notified that a live music club is nearby before they sign a lease or buy a unit. It would also prohibit neighbors from suing a permitted music venue on the grounds it’s a nuisance if the venue is operating within the requirements of its permit.
Breed told the San Francisco Chronicle new housing developments are creating uncertainty for owners of some of the cities storied music clubs.
She says the clubs are part of the city’s cultural history and bring significant economic benefits.
