Dispatch Announces Only North American Show Of 2015

Dispatch has scheduled its big return to Madison Square Garden this summer to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in America. The jam band is bringing along the John Butler Trio as its special guest.

The show, called takes place July 11. As the headline notes, the gig is your only chance to see Dispatch in North America this year. So far, the group’s 2015 itinerary also includes a few nights in Australia with Zac Brown Band and appearances at Byron Bay Bluesfest.

Dispatch made its debut at Madison Square Garden with three nights at the New York City venue in 2007. Proceeds from “Dispatch: Zimbabwe” went to assist with atrocities in the African nation such as food shortages and high HIV rates, according to the New York Times.

The band posted a note on its website to explain why it was focusing on hunger in the U.S. this time around.

“1 in 6 Americans (46.2 MILLION PEOPLE) struggle to put food on their table and 1 in 5 American children don’t have enough to eat. Hunger in America is an unfortunate reality that we need to do something about. However, we can’t do it without your help. That’s why we’ll be setting up regional volunteer opportunities, service projects, and other opportunities to come together between now and July 11th to make a difference.

“We hope you’ll join us to support a cause we care deeply about.”

A password protected presale begins Jan. 16 at 12 p.m. EST for newsletter subscribers and fans who have RSVP-ed to the Dispatch: Hunger Facebook Event page.
