Of Montreal From Coast To Coast

Apparently Of Montreal’s New Year’s resolution was to play as many gigs as possible in 2015. Thanks to a new batch of shows, the indie band has more than 40 U.S. dates lined up between mid-January and the first week of April.

Of Montreal had previously announced a run of January dates with support from Nedelle Torrisi. The new March/April run features support from Yonatan Gat, Deerhoof and Yip Deceiver.

In addition to updating its tour itinerary, Of Montreal also shared a new track, “Empyrean Abattoir.” The tune is included on the band’s upcoming album, Aureate Gloom, which is due out March 3. Pre-orders are ongoing now.

Frontman Kevin Barnes explains that Aureate Gloom represents “a golden despondency.”

He says, “I was going through a very stormy period in my life and felt like I was just completely trashed. I might be guilty of sharing or exposing too much of my private life, but to me the best albums are those that help people connect with an artist on a deep, human level and that do so without too much artifice or evasiveness.”
