Kirk Von Hammett Brings The Fear
Happening April 10-12, the “Kirk Von Hammett Fear FestEvil” weekend will kick off with a murder mystery dinner and VIP party at the Winchester Mystery House. Sarah Winchester, widow of gun manufacturer William Wirt Winchester, started construction on the now-famous abode following a psychic’s advice that she needed to continuously build a house that would serve as a home for the spirits of people killed by Winchester firearms.
And build it she did, launching construction in 1984 that resulted in a mansion with doors opening up to reveal brick walls and staircases leading to nowhere.
The murder mystery dinner and party part of the Kirk Von Hammett Fear FestEvil will include a tour of the Winchester Mystery House as well as a classic whodunit for guests to solve. Word is there will be special “horror royalty” greeting the intrepid investigators when they least expect it.
Guests will also dine alongside Hammett, who has been a fan of monsters and ghouls since he was a kid.
The music part of the weekend is set for April 11-2 at the RockBar Theater in San Jose and will sport a lineup including Meshuggah, High On Fire, Orchid, Blues Pills, Agnostic Front and Asada Messiah. The shows will be hosted by Sirius Radio’s Liquid Metal host Jose Mangin and Nikki Blakk from San Francisco radio station 107.7 The Bone.
“It has always been my intention that Fear FestEvil events carry both the weird and the loud,” Hammett said. “And what better way to achieve another extension of what we want to do than eat dinner in a haunted house while solving criminal acts before a weekend of super kick-ass music?!”
Tickets for FestEvil go on sale Jan. 12. At 10 a.m. Pacific time. Click here for more info.
