Omes – a bouncer at South Beach club Cameo and publisher of D’Vox Magazine – founded Ultra alongside Russell Faibisch in 1999. He eventually left, or was pushed out, of the festival in 2010 and was suing Faibisch for $33 million at the time of his death, according to Vice.com. He continued to promote successful shows starring Swedish House Mafia.

In 2013, he tried to launch the UR1 Festival with headliners Kanye West, Lou Reed and Animal Collective, but the festival was canceled.
