Newport Jazz Festival Announces Lineup

Chris Botti, Cassandra Wilson, Dr. John, Jamie Cullum and Arturo Sandoval are among the artists playing Rhode Island’s Newport Jazz Festival this summer. Tickets go on sale this week.

Along with wall-to-wall music July 31-Aug. 2 at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall Of Fame at the Newport Casino, the festival also holds a “Gala At The Breakers” event.

The first lineup announcement includes Snarky Puppy, Kenny Garrett, Maria Schneider, Billy Childs, Arturo O’Farrill, Fred Hersch, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Jon Batiste, Kneebody, Hiromi, Michel Camilo, Jon Faddis, James Carter, Christian McBride, Bill Frisell, Mike Stern/Bill Evans Band, Ambrose Akinmusire, Tom Harrell, Pat Martino, Matana Roberts, John Hollenbeck and more.

“We’re looking forward to presenting some of the greatest established and emerging artists with distinctive musical stories who represent the past, present and future of jazz,” producer George Wein said.
