Atlantic City Alliance Ending
State legislators in New Jersey would like to dissolve a marketing group for Atlantic City that staged big, free concerts to promote the city’s resorts.
The Atlantic City Alliance is sitting on a pot of $30 million that could be used in other ways to help the city recover from financial crisis, officials said.
Casinos paid into the alliance’s pot and have also recommended to end the group’s run given current budgets.
The alliance was formed in 2011 to promote Atlantic City to the rest of the country and came up with the slogan “Do AC.”
Free beach concerts featuring artists like Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum reportedly drew thousands to the city and generated more than $20 million in visitor spending.
