Company Suing Anita Baker For Work At Suburban Detroit Home

A company is suing Grammy-winning singer Anita Baker, seeking payment for work at a suburban Detroit home.

Wayne County Circuit Court records show MGM Restoration filed the lawsuit Thursday.

The suit was reported Friday by the Detroit Free Press. The Troy, Michigan-based company says Baker owes at least $39,000.

MGM Restoration says it was called about a flooding issue at a house in Grosse Pointe and only received $7,000.

The Associated Press left messages Monday for the company’s lawyer and a lawyer who’s represented Baker in other court cases. Messages also were left with Baker’s record label.

Attorney Jamal Hamood filed a $150,000 lawsuit against Baker in September over unpaid legal fees. Hamood represented Baker against allegations that she failed to pay $15,000 for work previously done at her home.
