Riot Squad Called To Sydney Rap Show

The riot squad was called to a rap show at Sydney’s  Jan. 26, at which a post-gig brawl broke out and a 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Police arrived at the sold-out show by Californian rappers Ty Dolla $ign and  at 7 p.m. to help control the 2,500-strong crowd as it entered the venue, according to a police statement.

There was no violence during the concert. But trouble flared at 11 p.m. afterward as he crowd dispersed, according to the Sydney Morning Herald

A violent brawl led to several arrests and at least one person hospitalised with minor injuries. Police are continuing their investigations, but say eyewitnesses were not cooperating.

One man was charged with groping a 15-year-old on the dancefloor.

Mohamed Hamdin faced Newtown Local Court Jan. 27 on charges that he rubbed the girl’s genitals and tried to pull her pants down.

He was released on bail with strict curfew conditions and will reappear Feb. 3.

The court heard Hamdin, a Sudanese refugee, was already on a good behavior bond on an earlier incident outside Sydney’s Eleven Nightclub at a record launch by rap duo Lazy J during which the act’s Jelal Edmonds was stabbed.
