Alabama Shakes From East Coast To West

“We promised a big 2015 and so it begins!” Alabama Shakes declared earlier today. The rock band from the Heart of Dixie has announced a round of spring U.S. dates in March and April, starting with two nights in New York.

This year will also bring the release of the band’s sophomore album. A release date hasn’t been set for the follow-up to 2012’s critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated Boys & Girls.

“We could’ve just gotten together, written a bunch of stuff and put out a record a year ago but that’s not what I wanna do,” frontwoman Brittany Howard told DIYMag.com. “I want to put out something that I’m really proud of, that means a lot to me, so we took our time and I think it’s definitely been worth it.”

She added, “I wouldn’t give our fans anything less than something completely genuine. I didn’t want to make a second record like Boys & Girls because it wouldn’t have been genuine of us.”

You’ll want to tune in to your local public television station to see Alabama Shakes on “Live from the Artist Den.” The band’s episode, which was filmed at the Loveless Barn in Nashville, begins airing Feb. 6. Fans are advised to check local listings for the broadcast schedule.
