Wheeling Venue Closing For Renovation

City manager Robert Herron said new seats and handrails will be installed. The upgrades are the second phase of a $5.6 million renovation.

The city plans to open bids for the project Feb. 20. The downtown arena is set to close June 1 to Aug. 26.

The renovation’s first phase was installation of an $850,000 video board system that debuted Jan. 23. The final phase will be an overhaul of the arena’s facade.
