The Replacements Are Back

Having reformed in 2013 for three Riot Fests, The Replacements played a short run of dates in 2014.  Now the band is ready to hit the road once more, in an outing called “Back By Unpopular Demand.”

Sure it’s not the same band that called it quits after one final show in Chicago on July 4, 1991.  Today’s replacements consist of members guitarist/singer/songwriter Paul Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson along with drummer Josh Freese and guitarist David Minehan.

They’re calling it the “first full U.S. tour” by The Replacements since 1991. While the band’s 2014 journey included performances at Southern California’s , Seattle’s , and Montreal’s , the band kept its wanderings short.  One of several highlights of the tour was when The Replacements returned to its Minnesota roots and headlined Minneapolis’ Midway Stadium, selling all 14,000 tickets in less than 15 minutes.

This time it’s going to be The Replacements topping the ticket, playing theatres across the country in such places as San Francisco, Detroit and Milwaukee.  The band will also head across the ocean to headline Barcelona’s and play shows in Amsterdam and London.
