MasterCard Teams With Thai Ticket

According to the Bangkok Post, TTM dominates Thailand’s ticket sales and distribution market with a 95 percent share. At present only 20 percent of sales transactions are carried out online.
Most purchasers pay in cash at service counters. The main reason for joining up with MasterCard is that TTM wants to tap into the lucrative foreign tourist market.
A representative of the company told the paper that Thailand has become a popular concert and entertainment destination for foreigners because ticket prices tend to be lower than in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia for major touring shows. A representative for MasterCard who covers Thailand and Myanmar added that the partnership has launched a campaign offering special privileges to people who buy tickets through TTM’s online site using MasterCard, such as a 10 percent discount for early reservations.
The campaign is available in every country in Southeast Asia, but the representative stressed that Thailand was the most popular destination in the region for its cardholders.
TTM estimates up to 400 concerts will happen in Thailand, 100 of which will be by major international artists, thanks principally to a collaboration between local promoter BEC-Tero and Los Angeles-based Live Nation.
