Overdoses Hit Park City Club
Officers responded to a call of a suspected overdose during a Jan. 17 show and while they were in the venue, two other patrons also began to suffer the same symptoms, the station reported.
Two other patrons reportedly overdosed on GHB a few weeks later during a Feb. 12 concert as well.
While the station said the club could be held liable for the incidents, Kirk added officers are working with the general manager and club security to check for drugs.
Park City Live owner Kathryn Burns told Pollstar in a statement the club does not tolerate drug use of any kind.
“We will continue working with Park City Police to maintain a safe experience for our concertgoers,” the statement said. “This includes monitoring the wellbeing of our patrons, conducting regular bag checks for drugs and working with the Park City Police Department to have officers visibly checking for drug use too.
“It is our first priority to ensure a safe, fun atmosphere for all of our patrons. In the recent overdose situation at PCL, our team acted according to our agreement with police, stepping in quickly and immediately contacting the police once we noticed a problem. Because of our quick actions we believe the parties who were in need received the best care possible and if these patrons had been somewhere else, for example in a parking lot alone, they may not be alive today.”
