Soundwave To Drop Two-Day Format, Adelaide
While hard rock festival Soundwave rolls through Australia Feb. 21 to March 1, founder AJ Maddah announced two major changes for next year.
The two-day format for each city, introduced this year to allow acts to stretch out sets, will be abandoned. It had not increased ticket sales significantly.
The city of Adelaide will be dropped due to declining ticket sales. It managed only 12,000 this year after drawing 37,000 in 2012, 45,000 in 2013 and 20,000 last year.
This was despite the 2015 bill including Faith No More, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Slash, Marilyn Manson, Judas Priest, Incubus and Fall Out Boy. In 2014, Perth was axed from the schedule for the same reason.
