Rams Head Exec Charged For Videos
Rams Head Group, is co-owned by Kyle Muehlhauser and his father, Bob, and includes several venues and restaurants in Maryland such as
The younger Muehlhauser faces six counts of “visual surveillance with prurient intent,” according to the Baltimore Sun. He was released on $35,000 bond. The investigation launched in May after a woman reported to police that a digital video camera fell onto the floor next to her in a women’s bathroom at Rams Head Tavern at the Historic Savage Mill Shopping Center.
Police recovered the camera and found six images of women on its memory card, according to the Sun.
“The camera was pointed in the direction of the toilet,” according to the Sun, quoting from charging documents. The memory card also included blurred images of a man installing the camera, later identified by police as Kyle Muehlhauser. In separate statements, Muehlhauser said he has fully cooperated with the investigation, and Rams Head Group assures patrons that its facilities are safe environments.
“Upon learning of the probe, I cooperated fully with investigators, to include the turning over of personal property from my home,” Muehlhauser said. “During this time, I also instructed staff to be transparent and provide any information that investigators requested. After more than eight months, I learned late last week that formal charges were being filed against me, I was devastated. I turned myself in to authorities immediately and pledge to continue my cooperative stance.
“While navigating the judicial process, I’ve decided to assume an administrator-oriented role versus an on-site operating role within the company. I am making these changes so as to not distract or interrupt the incredible customer experiences the extended Rams Head team delivers at each of our properties. I am very respectful of the 25-year Rams Head tradition and am sickened this incident has caused pain for others.
“On a more personal note, while I realize there will be a time to tell my story through the proper judicial channels, I am nonetheless embarrassed and humiliated by the recent events. The best thing for me now is to focus on myself and my family,” Muehlhauser concluded.
For its part, Rams Head Group reiterates full cooperation with investigators.
“Rams Head Group wants to assure the public, our staff and our guests that we have been fully cooperative with the Howard County Police Department,” the company said. “Per the police investigation, this is an isolated situation involving one bathroom at the Rams Head Tavern Savage Mill location more than nine months ago. We understand the community’s rightful concerns. Since the incident in May 2014, we have been focused on ensuring that all of our facilities are safe and secure. No other locations or incidents are involved.”
Muehlhauser is scheduled to appear in Howard County District Court on April 9.
