A.R. Rahman Gets Intimate
“I’ve been wanting to return to North America to perform for a while now, and I’m excited to be coming back for a series of concerts this spring,” says Rahman. “These are going to be very special performances and I’m grateful to have the chance to share them with you.”
You might not think you’re familiar with Rahman’s catalog, but it’s almost guaranteed that you’ve heard Rahman’s music before. The musician/composer has worked on more than 100 film soundtracks ranging from “127 Hours” to “Couples Retreat” to “Million Dollar Arm.” And of course, who could forget his score for “Slumdog Millionaire”? The film took home the Academy award for best original music score and best original score for “Jai Home,” along with a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and two Grammy Awards.
Rahman’s latest project is a composition for the biopic “Pele,” based on the Brazilian soccer player. The musician/composter is also the subject of his own documentary, “Jai Ho,” which premiered at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York Feb. 25.
