Two patrons were hit when someone fired several shots around 7 p.m. inside the venue, police told the Charlotte Observer. The club was hosting a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association takeover party featuring Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Other rappers including T.I., Young Jeezy, Yo Gotti, and Young Dolph were also slated to appear though the paper noted it was unclear whether they were there at the time of the shooting.

The club posted a statement on Facebook following the shooting that “an incident occurred this evening at Label following an event. The exact circumstances concerning the incident have yet to be determined. “Officials at Label are cooperating with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department concerning their investigation of this matter,” the post continued. “Tonight’s events at Label will take place as scheduled. It should be noted that there will continue to be very substantial security for all Label events during tournament weekend. And, Label remains fully committed to the safety and security of its patrons.”

This isn’t the first time an event surrounding the CIAA tournament has been touched by violence.

Two men were shot last year during a party in the city that also featured Combs. CIAA officials told the Observer events where violence has occurred have been unaffiliated with the tournament. “It’s unfortunate, but it’s not a thing we have control over,” spokesman Derek Ross said, explaining promoters often use the CIAA name on advertisements for events that haven’t been sanctioned by the association.
