Cleveland Spending $500,000 As Host Of Rock Hall Induction

The Northeast Ohio Media Group  reports the subsidy was approved by Cleveland City Council on Monday. The city paid the same amount in 2012 when it last hosted the ceremony, which also rotates to New York and Los Angeles.

The city’s chief of government and international affairs told the council that the local contribution for future induction ceremonies will be paid through an approved tax on hotel rooms in Cleveland and area suburbs.

The ceremony also will have a corporate sponsor.

This year’s event is at Cleveland’s Public Hall. Inductees include the punk trio Green Day, ex-Beatle Ringo Starr and “Lean on Me” singer Bill Withers.
