Saxon Targets U.S.
Famed British metal band Saxon lands on these shores in May for a loud and nasty rumble across the land. With Armored Saint appearing on select dates, and shows playing special guest to Judas Priest on others, the fun begins in NYC and wraps in Los Angeles.
Formed in 1976 while Led Zeppelin’s mighty muscle was in full bloom, Saxon went on to record many million-selling albums and gave the world a heavy metal anthem in the title track to the band’s 1981 album, Denim And Leather.
Earlier this year the band re-released two of its classic song collections. Greatest hits album Heavy Metal Thunder arrived with a new bonus CD, Live At Bloodstock. The other re-issue – The Saxon Chronicles – came with a double-disc DVD that now includes a bonus CD titled Rock’ n’ Roll Gypsies 1989 Live.
Today’s Saxon includes co-founding members Biff Byford and Paul Quinn along with guitarist Doug Scarratt, bassist Nibbs Carter and drummer Nigel Glockler. The upcoming outing is dubbed “Warriors Of The Road.” Here are the dates:
