Brian Wilson Takes ‘No Pier Pressure’ On The Road
As one of the Beach Boy’s Facebook followers pointed out, 2015 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for Brian Wilson fans. His 11th studio album, No Pier Pressure, is being released April 7 on Capitol and the Brian Wilson biopic “Love & Mercy” hits theaters June 5. The film is directed by Bill Pohlad and stars John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti.

Pre-orders for No Pier Pressure are ongoing now. Digital preorders include an instant download of the lead track “The Right Time,” featuring his former bandmates Al Jardine and David Marks. Blondie Chaplin also appears on the album.
Additional guest appearances include Kacey Musgraves, fun.’s Nate Ruess, She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, Peter Hollens, Capital Cities’ Sebu Simonian, and trumpet master Mark Isham. Members of Wilson’s longtime touring band – Scott Bennett, Paul Mertens, Darian Sahanaja, and Probyn Gregory – also contributed to the recording, as well as session musicians Don Was, Jim Keltner, Dean Parks and Kenny Aronoff. Plus, Beach Boys “vice principal” Jeffrey Foskett and Matt Jardine, son of Al Jardine, helped out.
During the Facebook Q&A Wilson said all of the tunes on No Pier Pressure were inspired by his children. He noted, “My daughter Daria not only named the album, but she took the cover photo.”
Another fan asked if the last track on the album, “Last Song,” was “a sign of the end or a grand finale.”
Wilson replied, “As for ‘The Last Song’ it’s the grand finale of the album, but not of my life. You never know what it’s going to be. This could be my last tour, but I know I’ve got more music in me.”
In addition to Rodriguez, Wilson is bringing along Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin on the tour. The setlist will feature tunes from his No Pier Pressure, as well as top hits and fan favorites from his catalogue with The Beach Boys and past solo releases.
