All Hail Prince’s Power Of Selling Tickets

Louisville, Ky., has already given Prince a warm welcome and he hasn’t even arrived. A second show was added Monday and after both gigs quickly sold out, two more performances were added today in the Gateway to the South.

The news broke Friday that the Purple One was planning a U.S. edition of the “Hit & Run Tour,” with Louisville as his first stop March 14. At that point he hadn’t revealed which venue he was playing. The largest city in Kentucky holds special significance to Prince’s backing band because it’s the hometown of drummer Hannah Welton.

Appropriately for royalty such as the musician, the residency takes places at The Louisville Palace Theatre. The gigs are scheduled March 14 and March 15, with two shows each night at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

The first two concerts sold out in minutes, according to the WAVE-TV. As of the time of this post, tickets were sold out for the 8 p.m. show March 15. As for the 11 p.m. performance, Live Nation hasn’t listed an onsale time. The event information says, “Tickets aren’t on sale right now – please check back!”

As for the next city on the “Hit & Run Tour,” that’s anyone’s guess. It’s a safe bet that Prince will continue his tradition of announcing dates shortly before the ticket onsales.
