The Belgian singer/songwriter’s Facebook page categorizes his music as “electro/hip hop/new beat.” His most recent album is his sophomore release, 2013’s Racine Carrée, which includes the hit “Papaoutai.” Another single from the LP, “Ta fête,” was the official song for the Belgian national football team at the 2014 World Cup. Stromae contributed the song “Meltdown,” to the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1. The tune features Lorde, Pusha T, Q-Tip and HAIM.

Rolling Stone points out, “Much of Stromae’s appeal lies in his ability to combine light, danceable beats with complex, introspective lyrics.”

Following a successful 2014 tour, including his first-ever North American excursion, the artist will be back in the U.S. next week to play a few South by Southwest shows. The latest stops added to the routing include Miami, Atlanta, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston and Toronto.
