Cubs Sued Over Video Board

Two clubs near Wrigley Field are taking the Chicago Cubs to court over the proposed installation of a more than 2,000-square-foot video board in right field.

Lakeview Baseball Club and Skybox On Sheffield are located in buildings across the street from the stadium. They claim they’ll lose more than $400,000 if the video board is installed and blocks their rooftop views of the stadium, according to court documents obtained by the Chicago Tribune.

The suit notes the clubs have already sold 5,929 Cubs and concert tickets for the upcoming season and if the board goes up, several groups confirmed they’d cancel orders amounting to as many as 2,667 tickets.

A U.S. District judge recently denied an emergency request from the clubs to stop the installation. Lakeview and Skybox previously accused the Cubs of violating the terms of a 20-year revenue-sharing agreement and want the team barred from blocking views into the stadium, the paper said.
