The 11th show to be announced for Aerosmith’s “Blue Army Tour” is planned for Aug. 7 at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.  The concert will take place the evening before the Hall Of Fame enshrines its class of 2015.

Guitarist Joe Perry talked about how he and his bandmates grew up as fans of the New England Patriots and how hearing of the team’s victories while Aerosmith was on the road would give everyone an injection of hometown pride.

“On behalf of Aerosmith we would like to congratulate all of you Hall of Famers, owners, the commissioner of NFL, and of course our hometown team the Patriots,” Perry said.  “To perform this show for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Hall of Famers is truly a great honor.  You only get here by playing the game with all of your heart and soul.  So we look forward to honoring all of you with a show that comes from the same place.”

The admiration is hardly one-sided.  Aerosmith counts many living Hall of Famers, called “Gold Jackets,” as fans.  Class of 2008 member and former Patriots linebacker Andre Tippett is one of them and he will be at the concert along with approximately 100 of his fellow Gold Jackets and other football legends.

“Spending my whole career in New England, I was very fortunate to have [the] opportunity to get to know Steven, Joe, Brad, Tom and Joey,” Tippett said.  “I can tell you that the New England Patriots locker room, in my day, was playing Aerosmith songs like ‘Toys In The Attic,’ ‘Sweet Emotion,’ ‘Livin’ On The Edge’ and ‘Walk This Way.’  And today, I can honestly tell you that those same songs fill the locker room of the Super Bowl champions.”

Tickets go on sale March 21 at 10 a.m. EDT.  Go to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s website for more info.
