Goldenvoice Backs Music Camp
The Academy of Musical Performance, a summer camp to advance music and production skills for 40 students in grades six to 10, is set for June 29 to July 24 at the
Roman Whittaker, board member for the trust, said Goldenvoice’s Skip Paige encouraged him to make the camp a reality.
“Goldenvoice is a longtime supporter of the CVCT,” Whittaker told the Sun. “Typically, it has done many grants and supported other nonprofits that benefit youths, particularly in the east valley. “Skip and I were talking about it and he expressed a desire (on behalf of) Goldenvoice that we have more of our own direct programs. Knowing what they’re into, I thought, how cool would it be to have a School of Rock-type summer camp?”
Auditions for the camp, which will cover the basics plus stage production, audio-visual work, event management and concert promotion among subjects, will be March 14 at IPAC. The Academy will host a public concert July 25 to showcase the student talent.
