ArtistDirect To Be Sold Again?
ArtistDirect, the pioneering online music retail and distribution website founded by Marc Geiger and Don Muller in 1994, may be sold by owner Relativity for about $1 million.
The agreement, reported by Deadline Hollywood, will include the ArtistDirect website and associated assets including UBL.com. ArtistDirect began at the dawn of the Internet’s retail age and attempted to create a one-stop shop for pop music fans.
It famously went public in March 2000, on the eve of the stock market’s dot-com bust. Relativity bought ArtistDirect in early 2010 for less than $1 million, not long after the company delisted its stock.
