Seven Aussie Acts Sign Overseas Deals
The Ministry of Sound Australia track was a triple platinum Top 3 hit in Australia and New Zealand and sold strongly in Sweden, Finland and the Netherlands. In 2009, Savage’s track “Swing” sold 1 million in the U.S.
Singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell, whose albums Wonder and Bless This Mess were Top 10 entries in Australia, signed with Europe’s Play It Again Sam.
The global deal does not include Australia and New Zealand where she is with Parlophone. Manager Cathy Oates remarked, “I feel we have found the right international home for Lisa, we already feel a great level of support.”
Mansionair are with Glassnote Records for North America, UK and Europe. The trio’s first single “Hold Me Down” racked up 2 million plays on SoundCloud and 8 million on YouTube. After showcasing at SXSW, the act heads to NYC’s Mercury Lounge March 22 and Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn March 24.
Midway through European and U.S, dates, grind thrashers King Parrott signed with Housecore Records for North America, Agonia Records for Europe, and EVP Recordings for Australia. A May-due album was recorded by former Pantera singer Philip Anselmo at his Nodferatu’s Lair studio in New Orleans.
Garage-pop trio Bloods release debut album Work It Out in the northern spring through Chicago-based l Minty Fresh Records. The three open for fellow Sydneyders The Preatures over 11 dates, beginning March 26 at Schubas Tavern in Chicago, and winding up at San Diego’s Casbah April 9. A headliner of their own, at The Drunken Donut in Illinois, sold out.
Twenty-year-old singer-songwriter Eves The Behavior signed global management with ATC Management. She is repped by Cedric Lemoyne from the L.A. office who is negotiating label deals for her in North America and the UK. The act is booked in Australia by Village Sounds’ Evan Davis.
Pop-rock band Starlight Theatre joined London-based Oceanic Music Management, working with Jon O’Mahony.
