Patrick and Yolanda Saavedra’s suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress, according to court documents obtained by the Pasadena Patch.

The incident took place when another concertgoer, Roberto Alcaraz-Garnica, groped Yolanda Saavedra during the show, police said at the time. A fight broke out and authorities reported Garnica then punched Patrick Saavedra before biting off the tip of his left index finger.

The suit says there was inadequate supervision of fans “to prevent criminal conduct against persons such as plaintiffs.” It also contends Rose Bowl management and Contemporary Services knew of “Garnica’s propensity to commit violent crimes and lewd and lascivious acts upon visitors to the Rose Bowl.”

The Saavedras are seeking unspecified damages from the city, the Rose Bowl and Contemporary Services Corp. Alcaraz-Garnica was charged for the crime last year but is not named in the suit.
