Brian Wilson Expands ‘No Pier Pressure’ Tour Plans

Brian Wilson has booked a trip across the pond in September, marking his first U.K. tour since 2011. He’s bringing along fellow Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin as well as America and Edwyn Collins.

The excursion follows a previously announced U.S. leg scheduled in June and July. The tour is in support of his new solo studio album, No Pier Pressure, due out April 6.

Wilson rounded up a whole bunch of guests for the album, including Jardine, Chaplin and Beach Boy David Marks. Kacey Musgraves, fun.’s Nate Ruess, She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, Peter Hollens, Capital Cities’ Sebu Simonian, and trumpeter Mark Isham also make appearances.

Additional contributors include members of Wilson’s longtime touring band – Scott Bennett, Paul Mertens, Darian Sahanaja, and Probyn Gregory – as well as session musicians Don Was, Jim Keltner, Dean Parks and Kenny Aronoff. Plus, Beach Boys “vice principal” Jeffrey Foskett and Matt Jardine, son of Al Jardine, helped out.

Fans can expect to hear tunes from No Pier Pressure on tour along with selections from his 50-year catalogue of work that boasts hit after hit with The Beach Boys and 10 other solo albums.   

The U.K. outing is headed to arenas including The O2 in London, Manchester Arena and The SSE Hydro in Glasgow. Here’s the plan.
