The indie pop artist released her sixth studio album, Lights Out, last April, where it peaked at No. 5 on the Nielsen SoundScan chart. The lead single, “Girls Chase Boys,” marks the first Top 40 hit of Michaelson’s career. The tune spent 20 weeks on the Top 100 chart in addition to climbing Spotify’s most viral chart and Shazam’s Top 100. The video, which is a homage to Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible,” has been viewed more than 9.4 million times.

The Wall Street Journal profiled the singer/songwriter’s rise into the spotlight in July and followed up the piece in August with a review of her performance at Central Park SummerStage that declared, “Michaelson is a star now.”

Last month Michaelson released the video for the track “Time Machine,” which features appearances from comedians including Rainn Wilson, Matt Jones, Jorge Garcia and Rob Delaney.
