Lollapalooza Trumpets Its Lineup

Paul McCartney, Metallica, Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith, Bassnectar and The Weeknd are among the acts heading to Chicago this summer. “Young talented artists will be performing alongside legends,” said founder Perry Farrell.

Announcing the almost endless list of performers, Farrell said the July 31-Aug. 2 extravaganza at Grant Park will host “new faces” such as MisterWives, Ryn Weaver, Catfish and The Bottlemen.

But it’s the established acts topping the bill that are getting the media’s attention.  While this will be McCartney’s first time playing Lollapalooza, Metallica’s performance marks the band’s return, having headlined the festival in 1996 when it was still a touring event.

The Lolla lineup also includes Alt-J, Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters And Men, Kaskade, Alesso, Tame Impala, A$AP Rocky, Kid Cudi, Brand New and TV On The Radio.
