INXS Tele-Series Up For Six Logies

INXS’s high-rating two-part series “Never Tear Us Apart” scored six noms for Australia’s TV awards, the Logies.

The Shine Australia production, which topped its timeslots when aired Feb. 9 and Feb. 18 last year on the Seven Network, is up for outstanding telemovie and most popular drama. Its runaway ratings success – 2.2 million the first night, 1.15 million the second – saw six INXS albums and two singles re-enter the official ARIA chart.

Actor Luke Arnold, who played late INXS singer Michael Hutchence, is up for most popular and most outstanding actor categories. Singer Samantha Jade who portrayed Hutchence’s love interest Kylie Minogue is a contender for most popular new talent.

Actress Laura Brent, who played INXS guitarist Tim Farriss’ wife Beth, was nominated for best new talent. Reality contest series “The Voice,” on Nine Network, was nominated for the outstanding and most popular entertainment program categories.

Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor are confirmed to play the Logies, May 3 at Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex in Melbourne.
