Michael Franti Once A Day

Michael Franti is ready to return to the stage in North America. After being forced to call off a batch of February dates to have surgery for a torn meniscus, the singer/songwriter has announced a summer outing dubbed the “Once A Day Tour.”

Franti injured his left knee while performing in January on Rock Boat. In March he shared a few lessons he had learned through the recovery process.

“7 weeks ago I injured my knee and 5 weeks ago I had surgery on it,” Franti posted on Facebook. “I’ve been slowly rehabbing it ever since. Today I’m finally able to get back on my yoga mat and gently begin a new phase of healing. It’s been a humbling journey not being able to walk, roll over in bed, go up stairs one leg at a time or generally move without a lot of pain. I’ve learned patience, to slow down, to trust in the process and have marveled at the body’s ability to heal itself when you really work at giving it what it needs. I’ve had to listen on days when I thought I should be doing more and my body was saying ‘no’ and really push myself to get to the gym on days when my mind was saying ‘no’ and my body was saying work me.”

Since then he and his band, Spearhead, launched a tour Down Under. After playing New Zealand last week, Wednesday is the first stop of the Australia routing.
