Festival Noize: Green River, Cajun & Blues, Tenacious D’s Festival Supreme, Mysteryland

Steve Earle, J. Mascis, and The Punch Brothers are among the acts going to Massachusetts for the Green River Fest … Spencer Davis Group, Candye Kane and Dwayne Dopsie are on Southern California’s Cajun & Blues Music Festival … Tenacious D announces the return of Festival Supreme … New York’s Mysteryland unveils first-day lineup.

Steve Earle & The Dukes, J. Mascis, Punch Brothers, Tune-Yards, Milk Carton Kids and Preservation Hall Jazz Band are among the artists appearing at this year’s Music & Hot Air Balloon extravaganza otherwise known as the , happening July 10-12 at Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, Mass.

Along with rising acts like Joe Pug, Valerie June and Langhorne Slim, the festival also includes longtime veteran performers such as Tony Joe White, who penned the hits “Polk Salad Annie” and “Rainy Night In Georgia,” and Booker T. Jones of Booker T. & The M.G.s.

This year’s Green River will kick off its first night with a special concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of Signature Sound, the New England-based label that has served as home to artists like Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Crooked Still and Chris Smither.

Green River’s lineup also includes Antibalas, Eilen Jewell, Lydia Loveless and Rubblebucket.  Balloon launches are Saturday night and Sunday morning.  Click here for more details.

California’s 25th annual taking place at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park May 23-24 has firmed up its lineup.  Saturday’s Blues Stage will host Canned Heat, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Leo “Bud” Welch, Royal Southern Brotherhood and Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers.  On the same day the Cajun-Zydeo Stage will feature Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic, Magnolia Sisters, Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience and Ruben Paul Moreno.

On Sunday you’ll find Candye Kane, Guitar Shorty, Reverend Tall Tree, The Record Company, Spencer Davis Group and Big Brother & The Holding Company on the Blues Stage while Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers, Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys, Magnolia Sisters, Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience and Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble rock the Cajun-Zydeco stage.

“Don’t be a fool!  This ain’t no joke!! Festival Supreme is back!!!” said Tenacious D members Jack Black and Kyle Gas in their exclamation point-laden message.  The comedy and music fest will take place at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds Oct. 10. 

In its third year, Festival Surpeme has yet to announce a lineup.  Which is probably why the onsale that launched this week is dubbed “Trust Us.” VIP options are also available. 

Previous lineups included Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman and Cheech & Chong.

Set for May 22-25 on the Woodstock ’69 grounds in upstate New York, has unveiled its May 22 lineup.  Daytime plans include A-Trak, GTA and Tropkillaza while the nighttime is reserved for Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex and Josh Wink keeping campers happy and dancing until the wee hours.

Founded in 1993, Mysteryland, which proudly proclaims that it’s the “world’s longest running dance festival,” will also debut its new Pineapple Paradise Stage.  Hosted by New York locals Brunch Bounce, the lineup includes Adamboy, ARG, DJ Schoolboy, EauxZown and others.

Throughout the weekend Mysteryland will host Empire Of The Sun, Porter Robinson, Netsky, Bob Moses, Guti, Benoit & Sergio and KiNK.
