Mass. Mayor Calls For Review After Concert Shooting
Springfield’s mayor is asking for a review of a theater’s entertainment license after police say three people were injured in a shooting there.
Mayor Dominic Sarno told The Republican newspaper on Sunday he has called for a hearing on security at the Paramount Theater, a venue previously operated as the Hippodrome nightclub. The theater is owned by a nonprofit agency which hasn’t immediately commented.
Police say a man apparently went in the front door as a hip-hop concert was ending at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and fired several shots in the lobby targeting one person. Three people have non-life-threatening injuries. Police have said the victims aren’t cooperating with their investigation.
The Republican said tickets for the event were sold online and at businesses in Springfield and Hartford, Connecticut.
